“Growing Up Country” tells the story of the Ward family’s rural way of life in the 1900s. Parents Jasper Grigg (J.G.) Ward and Ruby Milton Ward, with their 11 children, maintain a positive attitude through the Depression and World War II, in the face of loss, grief and change.
Bob Ward, the next to youngest of the Ward siblings, describes an idyllic childhood as a fearless explorer of the family’s California farmland and neighboring countryside. Providing added insights into Ward family history are J.G. Ward, granddaughter Annette Savage Williams, and many members of the Ward family.
“Growing Up Country” is an intimate portrait of a family and a long-ago time.
